Democratic Gov. Rod Blagojevich was arrested this morning at his home on corruption charges, including allegations that he solicited bribes to fill the vacated Senate seat of President-elect Barack Obama.
WTF was he thinking?
He has been the subject of a Federal investigation for the last several years and he was still continuing to take part in criminal activity?

Blagojevich, 51, who has been the subject of a five-year federal probe, is charged with conspiracy to commit mail and wire fraud and solicitation of bribery.
"The breadth of corruption laid out in these charges is staggering," said U.S. Attorney Patrick Fitzgerald in a statement. Fitzgerald was also responsible for prosecuting Ryan.
"They allege that Blagojevich put a 'for sale' sign on the naming of a United States Senator; involved himself personally in pay-to-play schemes with the urgency of a salesman meeting his annual sales target; and corruptly used his office in an effort to trample editorial voices of criticism," Fitzgerald said.
"The citizens of Illinois deserve public officials who act solely in the public's interest, without putting a price tag on government appointments, contracts and decisions."
I happen to disagree with that statement. The citizens of Illinois voted for this guy, just as they voted for Ryan and the others that have been put in prison. What the fuck is wrong with the people of Illinois? What makes them so gullible?
This isn't just a problem in Illinois though. It is more wide sweeping than that. It is a nationwide problem. A problem that has a very simple fix.
Vote.
People need to get off their ass, become proactive and VOTE!
The reason we have such limited choices in selecting our elected leaders is that people are not being heard. Imagine the fear we can put in the hearts and minds of the politicians, corrupt or not, if the citizens of America took their civic responsibility seriously and voted, actually selected a leader that had their best interests in mind when they pushed policies and agenda's.
What a concept eh.

The citizens of Illinois had no choice but to vote for Rod. Judy Barr Topinka (R) would have been arrested within days if she was elected.
Why would Illinois citizens expect their governors to be honorable when history shows that even if they are prosecuted (like Ryan)they never do the time they're supposed to do. Why wouldn't a governor commit crimes? They know they'll only do a year or so if they get caught. If that.
Why would anyone think that Fitz has a real case? The case against Bush, Cheney, Rove and Rumsfeld is a slam dunk and not one of them have been charged. We witnessed complete failure when Fitz handled the Valerie Plame case. Did I miss something? When did she and Joe Wilson get justice? Why didn't he plead for the publics help on that case like he is pleading now?
Sorry Fitz, you're weak.
Why wouldn't Rod want the editors at the Tribune fired when they are clearly and historically biased republicans. They never bashed Ryan when Ryan's crimes caused the death of children.
Incidently, The Tribune went into bankruptcy just yesterday..Hmmmm..
As for selling the Senate seat, everyone who still has their hat in the ring is just as guilty then. If they were told the seat is for sale they should have removed themselves from the bid. Only one did. Lisa Madigan (Attorney General) who is demanding that Rod resign certainly didn't take herself out of the bid and everybody in Illinois knows she wants Rods job as well.
I'm not convicting on the vague recorded statements Fitz presented today. I believe that more facts will come out and then I will decide if he should be convicted. If the facts show that he is guilty, like always, the citizens of Illinois will demand prosecution.
That is what we do. We prosecute criminals unlike the citizens of other states who are too lazy or too scared to do it.
Yes, it's true, all states have politicians commiting crimes yet most American's do nothing about it.
Kudo's to Illinoisans for letting the American People know that when a possible crime is committed, we take action. This does not make us the most corrupt, this makes us the most honorable and most worthy of the right to call ourselves Americans.
